Give us an introduction about yourself:
I’m a San Francisco based shoe designer from Greece. Obsessed with high heels and Harry Potter
What is your Fashion background?
I studied Fashion Design at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. After college I did a bit of buying and visual merchandising for various Bay Area companies, before getting sucked into the tech world of fashion startups, where I spent several fun years explaining the different types of heels and necklines to computer engineers. Now I design shoes.

How did you get started in footwear design?
It happened so fast, that the actual “starting” period was too short and vague to remember. I just remember spending a few weeks thinking about it and planning out all the logistics, till it was clear how feasible or not it would be. And then, I hopped on a plan to Italy to find a factory.
What made you choose footwear?
Shoes make a bigger statement. Whether they’re good or bad, everyone notices them. And being the shoe addict that I am, I always thought that telling people that I designed the shoes that I’m wearing sounded pretty freakin’ amazing.
What is your favorite part about being a footwear designer?
Being the only employee, I’m forced to juggle all the different pieces involved in running a fashion label; from designing new styles to overlooking manufacturing and dealing with the boring business bureaucracies. As much as it overwhelms me and I hate it at times, I love it all and have learned so much.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

What advice would you give to somebody who wants to work as a footwear designer?
Be patient and try to do as much of it on your own as you can. Not only will it save you money, but it’s the only way to know exactly how every piece of the operation works.
